Linen & Hemp Covers
Linen
Linen is one of the most durable and biodegradable fabrics due to the strong natural fibres it is made from. Hound & Home uses untreated and a heavy weight natural linen to ensure durability and sustainability.
Linen is hypo-allergenic and thermoregulating, making it great for those warmer months or for your hound to hang out on after a good exercise!
The bottom of our dog beds are made from a hemp based canvas material. Hemp is labelled the 'super fibre'. Hemp requires no pesticides, crowds out weeds without herbicides, controls erosion of the topsoil it exists in and produces oxygen. It is a renewable resource that can be cultivated in a short time frame.
Hemp is stronger and more durable than cotton. Like linen, hemp is also hypo-allergenic. Using both of these eco-friendly fabrics create the perfect resting space for your hound.
Deadstock Covers
We produce 'Limited Edition' beds, which utilize excess fabric left over from manufacturing that would normally end up in the landfill. Our team works diligently to utilize local deadstock fabrics for our Limited Edition series. Considering these fabrics have a limited quantity, we only have a select amount of beds. As such, each bed is one of a kind, and cannot be custom ordered. What you see is what we have available.
Memory Foam Filling
Hound & Home utilizes shredded memory foam from leftover mattress manufacturing. Our team works hard to source the memory foam from local manufacturers. Similar to the deadstock fabrics we use for some of our Limited Edition Dog Beds, we use leftover memory foam that would've ended up in landfills.
The memory foam used in our beds is hypo-allergenic and provides optimal joint support for your hound.
Brass Zippers
Brass is a copper-based allow that does not loose it properties through recycling processes, making this metal highly recyclable and sustainable. The recycling process for brass is less energy-intensive as compared to aluminum and steel and yields a smaller carbon footprint.
All Hound & Home beds are handmade with locally sourced brass zippers.
